2008 Conference: HFM Culinary Competition

Culinary Competition Tyson Food Service

HFM is pleased to announce its Call for Entries for the 4th Annual Culinary Competition in conjunction with Tyson Food Service, a division of Tyson Foods, Inc.!

This is your chance to demonstrate your extraordinary culinary talents and creativity and be recognized by your peers, colleagues, local community and industry at-large. All entrants will receive 250 Tyson Rewards Points!

Held during the 2008 Annual Leadership Conference, five finalists will be selected to compete on-site. HFM will provide free registration to the conference, three nights hotel, and a $500 scholarship to the five chef finalists.

First, second, and third place HFM prizes will be awarded based on total points:

  • First place: Engraved Plates and HFM Culinary Competition Gold Medals, $500 Tyson Reward points
  • Second place: HFM Culinary Competition Silver Medals, $300 Tyson Reward Points
  • Third place: HFM Culinary Competition Bronze Medals, $200 Tyson Reward Points

Applications can be emailed to culinary@hfm.org until April 30, 2008. Finalists will be selected by the end of May 2008.

Winners from the 2007 Culinary Competition:

Gold medal: Chicken Meritage with Jasmine Rice Pilaf.

- Paul Luttmann, Executive Chef, and Mary Lou Paulson, Director of Food and Nutrition Services.

Silver medal: Grilled Cilantro Lime Yogurt Chicken.

- Karea Anderson, Chef, and Deborah Jones, Nutrition Services Director, of St. Peter's Hospital in Helena, MT.

Bronze medal: Almond Crusted Chicken with Pomegranate Sauce.

- Jaime Palenque, Executive Chef and Julie Spelman, Director of Food and Nutrition Services, at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ.
