Environmental Issues Webinar "So You Want To Be Green, What Does that Mean?" Topic: In the world of green, where everything seems to affect everything, it's easy to get overwhelmed. Understanding the components of a plan, and knowing who to partner with can ease the confusion and facilitate your transition. Operators who have successfully implemented green programs will present their best practices as well as pitfalls to avoid. Webinar Objectives:
Speaker: Scot Case, vice president of TerraChoice Environmental Marketing, Inc., is an internationally recognized expert on responsible sourcing, green supply chains, and environmental marketing with almost 15 years of professional experience. Case helps connect purchasers seeking more environmentally and socially responsible products with the manufacturers supplying them. Case has delivered more than 200 keynote speeches, full-day trainings, or presentations throughout the United States and abroad to audiences of up to 1,000 people. He has published more than four-dozen articles, case studies, and book chapters. As a consultant to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Case wrote an extensive series of reports documenting the growing environmental purchasing movement. He currently writes a regular feature in Government Procurement magazine called, "The Green Purchaser." Case consults directly with organizations seeking to create additional value by improving their environmental and social performance. Recent clients have included: Wal-Mart, World Bank, University of Miami, the government of the Philippines, the Green Electronics Council, and others. Case also conducts responsible purchasing trainings sessions that have been delivered to the National Institute of Governmental Purchasers; National Association of State Purchasing Officials; the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; the World Bank; Portland, Oregon; Seattle, Washington; the Philippine Department of Natural Resources; the Japanese Green Purchasing Network; and scores of private sector companies including Wal-Mart, Microsoft, Starbucks, Hewlett Packard, and others. In 2002, he helped launch the North American Green Purchasing Initiative (NAGPI), a network of organizations working to accelerate the demand for safer, more environmentally preferable products. In 2005, Case launched the Responsible Purchasing Network, a group of influential purchasers using their purchasing power to buy better goods and services. He is also a founding board member of the International Green Purchasing Network. Case earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Virginia Tech.
Diane Imrie, the director of nutrition services for the Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington, VT, is a graduate of McGill University (Bachelor of science in nutrition), a Registered Dietitian and holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Vermont. Imrie has 18 years of experience working in a variety of healthcare foodservice operations in Canada and the United States. She has worked at Fletcher Allen Health Care for the past eight years and is responsible for clinical, retail, and patient nutrition services. Technical Information A Virtual Seminar is a real-time distance learning tool that combines a conference call with interactive online visuals. All you need is a telephone and a computer with an Internet connection. How does it work? A toll-free call will access the audio portion of the seminar and you can access the online visual portion right at your desktop. Complete access instructions will be provided a few days prior to the seminar. These access instructions will be emailed to you by KRM Information Services (HFM's technology partner for this event.) What technology do I need? For the audio portion you can simply use a common telephone (a speakerphone will enable multiple participants to listen). Web conferencing requires at least an Intel Pentium 266 MHz PC running Windows 98, Me, NT, 2000, or XP with at least 64 MB available RAM. Supported browsers include Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, Netscape 7 or later, or Mozilla Firefox with Java version 1.5 or later. JavaScript and cookies must be enabled in the browser. A 56K or faster Internet connection is recommended. Important: You will need to install WebEx Event Manager on your PC (or the PC you plan to use for the Virtual Seminar) prior to the Virtual Seminar's start time. Installation instructions will be included with your program materials and log-on instructions, or you can view them here. Different companies have varied security systems in place. You should consult your IT department for questions specific to your operating system. Can I test my PC before I get my instructions?
