New York, NY (March 4, 2008) - The National Society for Healthcare Foodservice Management (HFM) announced today the results of its 2008-2009 election.

HFM members last month cast their votes for a new president-elect, treasurer-elect, and secretary. Members also filled seven vacancies on the board of directors and two members-at-large seats.

Kris Schroeder, the administrative director of nutrition, environmental and conference services for the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA, has been tapped to lead HFM in 2009-2010. Maria Worley, nutrition program director and chief dietitian of the US Army Medical Command in Fort Sam Houston, TX, was elected to serve as the treasurer in 2009-2010. Alice Pollard, director of central food productions for the Premiere Health Partners in Dayton, OH, will serve as HFM's treasurer in 2009-2010.

The elected members will take office in September at the HFM Annual Leadership Conference, being held at The Homestead, in Hot Springs, VA. This year's conference marks HFM's 20th anniversary.

Schroeder will be preceded by 2008-2009 HFM president Bruce Thomas, associate vice-president of guest services for Geisinger Health System (GHS) in Danville, PA.

"Kris is an excellent choice to lead HFM into the future," Thomas said. "She has been a tremendous asset to our association since becoming a board member in 2004. Her dedication and service to HFM and the on-staff healthcare foodservice industry are immeasurable."

In 2001, Swedish was named "Best Institutional Food" by Seattle Magazine. In 2004, Schroeder's facility was honored with the Ivy Award and just last year received the Silver Plate Award.
