HFM AWARDS STUDENTS COMMITTED TO HEALTHCARE FOODSERVICE New York, NY (May 1, 2008) - The National Society for Healthcare Foodservice Management (HFM) is proud to announce that it has awarded five scholarships totaling $10,000 to students who have demonstrated a commitment to a career in the foodservice industry with an emphasis on the healthcare sector. The scholarship winners, selected from to the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's (NRAEF) applicant pool, are: Janice Weiss, The Art Institute of Charlotte, Charlotte, NC; Joshua Ivess, Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland, OH; Keith Wheeler, Scottsdale Community College, Scottsdale, AZ; Inga Glover, Wayne County Community College, Detroit, MI and Genesis Robinson, Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY. The students will attend HFM's 20th Anniversary Annual Leadership Conference being held September 15-19 at the Homestead in Hot Springs, VA. According to Mary Angela Miller, HFM president and administrative director for Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, OH, the conference, titled 20/20 Extraordinary Vision, will not only provide a look back at what HFM has accomplished in the on-staff healthcare foodservice industry, but what can be achieved going forward. "HFM has a responsibility to engage and mentor students who are interested in pursuing careers in healthcare foodservice," Miller said. "Attending the conference will offer these promising students the opportunity to learn about current trends and cutting edge methodologies from leaders in the industry." The scholarship winners will be acknowledged at the 21st Annual Salute to Excellence, a day-long series of events hosted by NRAEF, on Saturday, May 17, at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place and Hilton Chicago.
