WINNERS OF HFM AWARDS IN EXCELLENCE ANNOUNCED

New York, NY (May 27, 2008) - The National Society for Healthcare Foodservice Management (HFM) is proud to announce the 2008 winners of it National Recognition Awards Programs. Award winners will be celebrated at the HFM's 20th Anniversary Leadership Conference being held September 15-19 at The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA.

The Future Horizon Award is a new award that is given to HFM members who serve as role models for others and perform at a level of excellence on the job and in their own profession. The year's winners are:

  • Lenwood Ayers Jr., St Mary's Medical Center, Hobart, IN
  • Eric Eisenberg, Swedish Medical Center, Seattle, WA
  • Joseph Pastore, Spring Harbor Hospital, Westbrook, ME
  • Whitney Bundy, MBA, RD, Backus Hospital, Norwich, CT

The Partnership in Leadership Award is given to an HFM member facility that has demonstrated a strong commitment to on-staff operations and provided support for the HFM member foodservice director. Awardees this year are:

  • Dexter Hancock and Dr. Eula Das, DCH Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, AL
  • Tony Almeida and Stephen K. Jones, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ

The Spotlight on Innovation Award is given to operator members who have implemented innovative programs that have advanced quality and implemented cost improvements in their areas of responsibility. Winners this year are:

  • Elma Hrapovich and Marianne Katusin, Halton Healthcare, Oakville, ON, Canada
  • Paul Hubbard, Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook, NY

Mary Angela Miller, HFM president and administrative director for Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, OH, said of this year's awards, "Each year the pool of possible awardees grows larger and more impressive. As this year's winners illustrate, HFM operator members are continuing to set and achieve their goals of providing excellent foodservice at their facilities."

Winners will be acknowledged at the 20th Anniversary Awards Banquet, held on the evening of Wednesday, September 17.
