From January 25–31, 2026, millions of families, educators, and community members across the country are coming together to celebrate National School Choice Week. This non-partisan, non-political initiative is the largest annual celebration of opportunity in K–12 education, highlighting the diverse ways our children learn and grow.
What is School Choice? School choice is the process of allowing every family to choose the K–12 educational environment that best fits their child’s unique needs. Whether that is a traditional public school, a public charter school, a public magnet school, a private school, an online academy, or homeschooling, National School Choice Week shines a spotlight on all of them equally.
Why It Matters Every child is an individual with different interests, challenges, and dreams. Research shows that when parents are empowered to choose the right environment for their children, whether they are looking for a specific academic focus, a safer environment, or a more flexible schedule, students are more likely to succeed and stay engaged in their learning.
Education is not "one size fits all." This week, let’s celebrate the teachers, parents, and students who make our school community vibrant and diverse!
